Police confirm killing of traditional ruler’s son Demola Akinloye in Lagos

Police in Lagos have confirmed the killing of Demola Akinloye in the Lekki area of the state by gunmen.

Akinloye, son of the Ojomu of Ajiran land Oba Tijani Akinloye, was killed on Sunday around 12:30pm at the Chevron drive area of Lekki in Lagos.

Four gunmen reportedly shot and stabbed him to death. The deceased was said to be driving his Toyota Corolla car when he was attacked by the yet-to-be-identified assailants.

Lagos police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin told NAN on Tuesday that a distress call was received at a police station about the incident.

“The scene had been visited, one expended cartridge was recovered, while the corpse has been moved to a morgue in Ajah for preservation and autopsy.

“The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID, Panti-Yaba, for further investigation,” he said.

The killing caused panic in the community, leading to residents deserting the area.
