Nine men were on Friday brought before a Grade I Area Court, Kubwa in Abuja for allegedly causing public nuisance and disturbing public peace within Karu and environs.
The defendants, included: Daniel Taba, Jacob Ishaku, Musa Tijani, Monday Garba, Bala Audu, John Goma and Umar Yahaya.
Others were: Moses Dagu and Erastus Kortaaya were arraigned on two-count charge bordering on joint act and public nuisance.
The prosecutor, Ayotunde Adeyanju, told the court that the nine men were arrested on Nov. 15, by a team of policemen led by DSP Damsa Torunga attached to Karu Police Station.
Adeyanju said that the team raided a black spot where criminals used, as hideout within Bakassi Kugbo Karu jurisdiction, from midnight to 4 a.m.
He added that the defendants could not give satisfactory accounts of what they were doing in that area, at the time of arrest.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 79 and 198 of the Penal Code.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The judge, Malam Aliyu Kagarko, admitted them bail in the sum of N50,000 each with one surety each in like sum.
Kagarko adjourned the case until Nov. 30 for hearing.
