The police in Lagos have arraigned dismissed Inspector Ogunyemi Olalekan for fatally shooting a football fan, Kolade Johnson, on Sunday.
Mr Olalekan was arraigned on Friday at the Chief Magistrate Court in Ebute-Metta.
This comes after the police recommended him for dismissal on Thursday after being found guilty in an Orderly Room Trial.
Johnson’s killing led to protest by residents of Mangoro/Onipetesi community, who blocked the Oshodi/Abeokuta expressway for several hours.
The public outcry that greeted the extrajudicial killing forced the Federal Government and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu, to apologise to the deceased’s family.
Mr. Muazu and other senior police officers paid a condolence visit to the family on Tuesday where he assured them that justice will be done on the case.
