Police in Lagos have asked the headteacher of Chrisland Schools located in the Victoria Garden City area of the state, and others involved in the alleged sexual abuse of a pupil of the school to report to the state criminal investigation department, Panti, Yaba on Tuesday.
The parents of the female pupil alleged that their daughter was sexually abused during the school’s participation in the World School Games in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. However, the school refuted the allegation, saying the pupil participated in a truth-or-dare game with her peers, which led to “improper behaviour”.
Videos of the sexual activity the pupils engaged in have since gone viral, sparking outrage from the public.
Lagos State Police Command spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin told PUNCH that the persons involved in the matter were asked to report to the SCID to write their statements.
“All the parties involved have been invited to the State Criminal Investigation Department Panti today to give a written statement and further questioning will be done,” he said.
The parties involved include the school’s headteacher, G.I. Azike; and the parents of the female pupil.
The school authorities have since suspended the pupil (name withheld) indefinitely, stating that she was “a major actor” in the “immoral act”.
However, the mother of the pupil said her daughter was drugged and raped by some male students of the school.
