Human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) has said that the police had nothing to do with the arrest of president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Joe Ajaero.
Mr Ajaero was arrested by DSS operatives on Monday morning while on his way to the United Kingdom.
The NLC leader was meant to meet with the police at the Force headquarters for the second time.
“The invitation to Comrade Joe Ajaero by the police was rescheduled last week. I have contacted the police authorities. The arrest is not related to the police invitation,” Falana told PUNCH in Abuja.
The senior lawyer said the DSS had not provided a reason for the arrest.
Ajaero is being investigated by the police for alleged criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion and cybercrime.
