Hilton Hotel owner Ramon Adedoyin will be re-arraigned in Osun State after the police withdrew charges against him and six others from the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja on Tuesday.
The court struck out the case following an application for notice of discontinuance of the case by the prosecuting counsel, Ochogwu Ogbeh.
Adedoyin and the other suspects are facing charges over the death of Timothy Adegoke, a postgraduate student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile- Ife Osun State.
Mr Adegoke died in Hilton Hotel and was allegedly buried by the hotel’s management without the notice of the police or his family.
The transfer of the case back to Osun comes after rights lawyer Femi Falana, who was contracted by the Adegoke family, wrote to the inspector general of police Usman Baba requesting for the return of the case to Osun where the alleged incident occurred.
Adegoke’s family had been calling for the return of the case to Osun after the Force headquarters took charge of it last year.
The victim was billed to write an examination at the OAU distance learning centre, Moro campus, when he was declared missing on November 7, 2021.
