The British citizen declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force, Andrew Wynne, has said he fears he would not survive the year if he comes to Nigeria to clear his name.
Mr Wynne is accused of trying to overthrow President Bola Tinubu by allegedly financing the recent #EndBadGovernance protest in the country.
A N20 million bounty has been placed on him as a person of interest:
While Wynne denies the allegations, he told PUNCH on Wednesday that Yomi, his employee at the bookshop raided by the police, was tortured for days after his arrest.
Wynne, 70, stated that if he surrendered to the police, he would not survive the year.
“My fear is I would not be alive. It’s not about fear of torture and being beaten up by the police, it’s fear for my life. I don’t think I would survive the year if I came back to Nigeria,” he said.
