Controversial singer Portable has responded to social media personality VeryDarkMan (VDM) who called him out for allegedly assaulting a man during Felabration 2024, an event held to honour the late Afrobeat icon Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
VeryDarkMan posted a video on Instagram on Monday evening showing Portable hitting a man in a bathroom.
VDM expressed dismay over Portable’s action, urging the singer to stop physically attacking people.
He also encouraged the victim to contact him so they could report the incident to the police.
In a swift reaction, Portable posted a video on Instagram on Tuesday, warning VeryDarkMan against provoking him.
The singer issued a challenge, claiming he could take on VDM in a confrontation.
“Online madness is different from real-life madness,” Portable declared.
“I’ll bend you, I’ll mend you, I’ll cripple you. I’m a one-man battalion. If I catch you…”
He further addressed VDM’s warnings saying, “You’re using Abuja to threaten me. Go and ask about me in Maraba, Nyanya, and Babangida market. I’m a Lagos boy.”
Portable explained what triggered the altercation, stating that the man he assaulted owed him money.
“My fans should understand who I was beating. We had a man-to-man fight. This guy collected money for five shows and disappeared for six months. Are you my manager?” Portable asked.
He concluded by accusing VeryDarkMan of disrupting his business dealings with influential figures who financially support him and other entertainers.
