The potential housemates for the fifth season of the Big Brother Naija reality TV show, are currently in quarantine ahead of the July 19 start date for the show.
This is was contained in a press statement released by the organisers on Thursday.
According to the statement, the potential housemates will be made to undergo a coronavirus test in addition to other medical tests before entering the Big Brother Naija house while the production crew will work in socially-distanced shifts.
“As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, organisers of Big Brother Naija have taken some necessary precautions in line with the guidelines set by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for the fifth season of the show.
“Besides doing things like ensuring the production crew works in socially-distanced shifts, MultiChoice is putting the potential housemates through a rigorous screening process.
“These potential housemates, will in addition to other medical tests, undergo a COVID-19 test before entering Biggie’s house.
“To further ensure the safety of BBNaija participants, these potential housemates are currently in quarantine ahead of the show’s premiere on Sunday, July 19,” the statement reads.
In keeping with their commitment to the health and safety of the housemates, the organisers have also stated that there will be no live audience at the Sunday Night Eviction Shows nor will there be unexpected celebrity visits to the house.
