Singer Timi Dakolo has called out the All Progressives Congress, (APC) for using one of his songs during their national convention in Abuja on Tuesday, without asking for his permission.
The West Idol winner’s hit song, ‘Great Nation’, was played at the APC presidential primaries when members of Nigerian entertainment industry under the umbrella of Ambassadors of Voice for Change, appeared on stage to lend their voice to the call for peace and oneness in Nigeria.
Displeased over the performance of his song, Timi Dakolo took to Twitter on Wednesday morning to announce that his consent was not sought before his song was used at the event.
He wrote: “Why use an artist’s song without permission in a rally or campaign. The things people get away with in this country called Nigeria. Actually, this is the second time.”
Recall that the 41-year-old performed the same song during former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s declaration to run for the 2023 presidential election.
Timi came under fire following his performance as tweeps berated him for showing his support for the presidential aspirant.
In his defence, Timi wrote on Twitter: “I will sing and collect bread my Guy, if it pains you well well, go sing your own.”
