Owodunni Ibrahim also known as Primeboy, a close associate of the late singer Mohbad has refuted allegations made by the singer’s mother Abosede Adeyemo-Aloba regarding their relationship before his death.
In an online interview, Mohbad’s mother accused Primeboy of having ongoing conflicts with her son while he was alive.
She also alleged that Primeboy frequently complained about being neglected by Mohbad after he rose to stardom.
In a statement released by his lawyer Akinpelu Ogunbona, Primeboy addressed these claims quoting Mohbad’s mother as saying that he “always fought with Mohbad and consistently complained about neglect.”
She also suggested that Primeboy had been adviced to flee after Mohbad’s death to avoid being suspected of involvement.
Primeboy dismissed these accusations as defamatory, asserting that the allegations were made with malicious intent and had damaged his reputation.
“Your actions were deliberate and meant to tarnish the character of our client, a rising star in the music industry,” the statement read.
“These allegations have severely impacted the affection and support he enjoys from fans and well-wishers worldwide.”
Primeboy has demanded that Mohbad’s mother retract her statements within seven days, threatening legal action if she fails to comply.
In August, Primeboy’s lawyer argued that both Wunmi Aloba, Mohbad’s wife and the police needed to provide clarity on certain issues related to the singer’s death, particularly concerning an alleged altercation at their home.
The court adjourned the matter requesting that witnesses provide further testimony at the next hearing.
Mohbad died on September 12, 2023 at the age of 27 with his death sparking widespread controversy on social media.
His passing also led to the arrests of several individuals including Naira Marley and controversial Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu also known as Sam Larry.
On September 21, 2023 Mohbad’s body was exhumed for an autopsy to determine the cause of his death.
