Prophetess Yinka Olugbenga, a former senior member of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), has said prayers for Ukraine following invasion by the Russian military.
Russia President Vladimir Putin ordered total demilitarisation of Ukraine on Thursday, February 24, sending troops who have been at the border for weeks into their neighbour’s country.
The attack comes amid plans by pro-west Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to join NATO, a move that Russia fears could threaten its security. Scores have lost their lives since Russia’s invasion began.
Yinka prayed in an Instagram post on Friday, February 25 that God would show mercy to Ukraine and grant them salvation.
“#Ukraine Our hearts go towards our brethren in this troubled part of the world. LORD, show your mercy, grant them salvation LORD,” she said.
“Merciful Father, do not turn your face away from them! Thank You Jesus! Do not keep still nor hold your peace in Jesus’ name! Amen!”
The late founder of the SCOAN Prophet TB Joshua had worshippers from Ukraine as partners.
During his lifetime, Joshua claimed he made several prophecies about Russia.
In 2020, the preacher said the suspected poisoning of one of Putin’s fiercest critics and Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny was part of prophecies he made on December 28, 2019, concerning the year 2020.
Meanwhile, Yinka is not the only cleric who has prayed for Ukraine.
Other Nigerian preachers who have done so include the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye; and senior pastors of House on the Rock Church and Daystar Christian Centre, Paul Adefarasin and Sam Adeyemi respectively.
“Our prayers are with Ukraine at this time. We join all the children of God around the world to pray for peace and stability in the country of Ukraine,” Adeboye wrote on Instagram.
