Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide also known as Winners’ Chapel International David Oyedepo says it is impossible to be prosperous without paying tithes.
The televangelist tweeted this on Thursday, adding that one who fails to pay tithe is under a financial curse.
“Tithing is an inescapable covenant obligation. Prosperity not just wealth is impossible without tithing, because when you’re not paying your tithe, you’re under a financial curse,” wrote Oyedepo.
A former presidential aide Reno Omokri however tweeted that the Bible allows one to use tithe to buy alcohol, backing his claim with a bible passage.
“Drinking alcohol is no sin. Drunkenness is sin. It is unscriptural to preach against alcohol. Even in heaven they drink wine (Matthew 26:29). Paul encouraged wine drinking (1 Tim 5:23). Scripture allows you use your tithe to buy alcohol (Deu 14:26),” he wrote.
