Actress Rachael Okonkwo has paid an emotional tribute to her parents following a visit to her village.
On her Instagram page on Saturday, Rachael posted a video of herself in her hometown, gazing at a portrait of her late parents and kissing it tenderly.
In the video, the actress wears a black outfit paired with sunglasses.
She opened up about how each visit to her village stirs mixed emotions of joy and sadness.
“I have mixed feelings each time I visit my village,” she wrote.
“I’ve lost my parents and both grandparents 💔. Yet, I feel blessed to have come into this world through them.”
Rachael expressed gratitude for the values her parents instilled in her, which she said have remained with her.
She expressed sorrow that they did not live long enough to witness the successes of the “kings and queens” they raised.
“In my next world, I will still come through them. May their souls continue to rest in peace,” she added.
In 2020, Rachael opened up about her grief following the loss of her mother, describing her world as “shattered” and her “life crumbled.”
She shared the news on Instagram though she did not disclose the cause of her mother’s death.
