Mariam Omoyemi, one of the daughters of late former Super Eagles striker, Rashidi Yekini, has graduated from the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN).
Mariam completed her first degree in English on Wednesday, same day her father would have turned 56.
She is the youngest of late Yekini’s two daughters.
Yekini’s lawyer, Jibril Olanrewaju, told Premium Times on Thursday that the first vice president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Seyi Akinwunmi, has been supportive of Mariam’s education since she was in Part Three.
Yekini’s eldest daughter, Yemisi, graduated in 2017 as the second overall best student from De Monforte University in Leicester City, United Kingdom.
Yekini died at age 48 in Ibadan, Oyo State on May 4, 2012, after a brief but serious illness.
He scored the Super Eagles’ first ever FIFA World Cup goal at the 1994 finals in USA in the 3-0 group stage win over Bulgaria.
In 1993, Yekini became the first Nigerian to be voted African Footballer of the Year.
He scored a record number of 37 goals for Nigeria.
