Nigerians have reacted to President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Tinubu made the announcement in a national broadcast on Tuesday, citing the prolonged political crisis affecting governance and stability.
As part of the directive, the president suspended Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu and all elected members of the state House of Assembly for an initial six-month period to reset governance.
Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (Rtd) has been appointed as the administrator to oversee the state’s affairs during this period.
