Real Madrid will attempt to hand Paul Pogba a route out of Manchester United in the summer but will have to spend in excess of £120m.
Pogba’s relationship with Jose Mourinho has strained in recent weeks and now he is being linked with a move away from Old Trafford for the second time in his career.
Reports from France have even emerged this week suggesting Pogba regrets turning down the chance to join Madrid in favour of returning to United, although British media do not believe that is the case.
Pogba reportedly wants Mourinho to change formation so he can rediscover his best form but the United manager believes a player of Pogba’s skill set should be able to thrive in any system.
Mourinho’s side beat Madrid to Pogba’s signature in 2016 after shelling out a then-world record fee for the 24-year-old and Zinedine Zidane’s side are now monitoring the situation carefully.
Pogba is still an integral part of Mourinho’s plans at United and the Red Devils have no intention of entertaining Madrid’s interest, even if they are prepared to break their club transfer record to land the France international.
Madrid has endured a disastrous campaign this season and president Florentino Perez is plotting wholesale changes in the summer, which includes finally bringing Pogba to Spain.
Only Kevin De Bruyne (14) and Leroy Sane (10) have provided more Premier League assists than Pogba (9) this season.
