Real Madrid are closing in on signing Chelsea star, Eden Hazard, and are expected to seal the deal in the summer, according to reports in Spain.
The Spanish giants’ admiration for the Belgian ace is widely known and they are keen to make him their next global star.
Hazard – who has eight goals and seven assists this season – has developed into one of the Premier League’s leading superstars stars since joining Chelsea from Lille in 2012.
It is claimed Real boss, Zinedine Zidane, has told club president, Florentino Perez, to do everything in his power to land the 26-year-old and Diario Gol report that negotiations have begun and are already advancing.
The Spanish newspaper’s report adds that “everything points to the Belgian landing at the Bernabeu after the World Cup”.
However, Hazard’s arrival could mean the departure of one of Real’s top up-and-coming stars.
Spanish starlet, Marco Asensio, has reportedly issued the club an ultimatum that if Hazard arrives, he will push to leave.
The 21-year-old is said to be frustrated with his lack of regular first-team action for Los Blancos and has told Real this will be his last season there should Hazard’s arrival put him even further down the pecking order.
And that could be good news for Manchester City, who are reportedly tracking the situation and will make a swoop for Asensio should the deal go through.
City boss, Pep Guardiola, is a big fan of the young Spain international and is ready to offer him a more prominent role than he is currently being given at the Bernabeu.
