Pastor Sylvester Yerinbide of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has reportedly been killed in the Aladja area of Udu council, Delta State.
The Nation reports that Yerinbide was attacked on October 29 by unidentified persons on his way to a vigil in Aladja.
The Ogbe-Ijoh native was reportedly rushed to a hospital where he died.
The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) in Ogbe-Ijoh claimed the assailants were from Aladja community, saying the victim recalled on his death bed that his attackers spoke “Urhobo dialect.”
President of Aladja community Elder Otto Ogbiruveta, however, denied the claim. He said an internal investigation was ongoing.
Police spokesman Bright Edafe told the newspaper that the incident had not been reported to the Command.
The church which is overseen by Pastor Enoch Adeboye is yet to react to the alleged incident.
