Pop musician Reekado Banks has announced his exit from Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records.
The 25-year old made the announcement in an Instagram post on Friday.
“Today I write in tears, not from a place of pain, but of joy and gratitude. A place of bliss and satisfaction because I am more than contented with how far this opportunity has brought me,” he began.
He described the last five years as the most blissful of his career.
Joining Mavin Records, he said, was the best thing that happened to him in the last decade.
He confessed that Don Jazzy “took me in and treated me like his son. I’ll be eternally grateful to him for the sacrifices he has made towards the growth of my career. His selflessness and effort towards me and the entire Mavin crew is one that is admirable and worthy of emulation.”
His brother had submitted some of his songs to the label in an online talent search and his entries were selected from over 5000 others.
He premiered the single ‘Turn It Up on February 21, 2014, which happens to be the same day he got signed to Mavin Records.
Reekado Banks was featured alongside label mates Don Jazzy, Korede Bello, Tiwa Savage, Di’Ja, Dr SID and D’Prince on the critical acclaim song ‘Dorobucci’, which was released on 1 May 2014.
He released his debut album Spotlight under the label in 2016.
