Former beauty queen and Nollywood actress, Regina Askia-Williams, has completed a Family Nurse Practitioners (FNP) programme at Wagner College in New York City.
The 51-year-old posted pictures from her graduation on Facebook on Friday.
“And on that note, it’s a wrap at the FNP program, Wagner College, NYC!! Thanks be to God. Next!” she wrote.
Nurse practitioners are registered nurses who serve as primary and speciality health care providers under a physician.
Much like a family doctor, family nurse practitioners work with patients throughout their lives, diagnosing illness, conducting exams and prescribing medication.
Regina became an American citizen in 2017, 16 years after relocating to the US.
Married to American, Rudolph ‘Rudy’ Williams, the former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) titleholder relocated to the United States in 2001.
The Most Wanted actress and mother of three was in Nigeria late last year during which she advised the Nigerian government to invest in the nurses to achieve efficient healthcare delivery in the country.
“I will like to see a situation where there is dual action on the part of the government to provide an environment that is safe to practise healthcare delivery.
“We have to work on these challenges and attack the root of the problem, like the environment of practice.
“You cannot access blood pressure machine, stethoscope, you do not have essential things needed to work with but then you have to attend to 20 patients.
“This is frustrating because you cannot tell if your patient is improving or degenerating, ignorant of where to concentrate your services nor how to access the patients and get a snapshot of his health situation,” she said in an interview with NAN.
