Actress Regina Chukwu has shared her ordeal, raising her daughter Chiamaka as a widow for 22 years.
The Igbo actress who features in Yoruba movies highlighted some of the difficulties she faced as a single mum in an Instagram post on Friday.
The actress who celebrated her daughter’s birthday said Chiamaka had to put in extra efforts in being well-behaved because she was being raised by a single mother and a widow.
In her lengthy message, she wrote: “HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HER MOTHER’S DAUGHTER. IT’S YOUR 23RD BIRTHDAY DEAR DAUGHTER AND I AM WRITING YOU THIS OPEN LETTER FROM MY HEART.
“Dear Rachel Chiamaka Nwafor mummy is proud of the woman you turning into and she is grateful to God for bringing you this far.
Dear daughter, thank you for imbibing all the training and nuturing that was giving to you as you grew into the young adult that you are today, thank you for not bringing me shame 🙏 thank you for graduating, thank you for being my daughter, thank you for the laughter and joy you bring into my life, thank you for always hailing an cheering me on, thank you for understanding that you are been raised by your widowed mother and you needed to put in extra effort to be that child no one will point at, and say she is bad behave cos she is raised by a single parent 🙏thank you for making it easy for me to be your mother.

Regina lost her husband at a young age and raised her two children as a single mother.
