Actress Regina Daniels has responded to claims that she flaunted a fake Rolex watch, calling on her brother, Lawrence Daniels popularly known as Sweezzy, to clarify the situation.
The 24-year-old took to her Instagram story on Tuesday, posting a now-deleted message expressing her confusion over the controversy.
“Brother Sweezzy, abeg come and explain because I don’t understand what’s going on,” she wrote, tagging her brother.
The controversy began after Regina shared a video of herself unboxing what she described as a newly acquired Rolex, reportedly worth $30,000.
However, luxury fashion critique platform T20Luxury disputed the authenticity of the timepiece.
According to T20Luxury, several inconsistencies indicated that the Rolex was not genuine.
One major concern was the packaging, which they claimed did not match the vintage model Regina displayed.
“This Rolex Datejust Two-Tone you unboxed in this video is a vintage model, so it shouldn’t come with the modern Rolex box but instead an older version,” the critic explained.
Other issues highlighted included the absence of a date lens and discrepancies in the crown’s gold color.
“The box is fake because the color of the internal lining is too imprecise, and the external material and colors are off,” the analyst added.
Beyond pointing out flaws in the watch, T20Luxury advised Regina to ensure the authenticity of luxury items before showcasing them, given her influential status in the entertainment industry.
“To maintain authenticity and uphold industry standards, we encourage you to conduct due diligence when acquiring fashion pieces,” the platform stated.
Lawrence in response shared a clearer picture of the wrist watch.
He further encouraged the fashion critic to do a proper evaluation of the jewellery and cautioned them for trying to tarnish his sister’s image.
Lawrence wrote, “Dear T20luxury, contrary to your post about Regina’s Rolex, I hope this helps you get a clearer insight of what you seek.
As you post negative, post positive, let’s be guided. Regina’s name go make all of una run mad last last.”
Also, on the post made by T20luxury, Lawrence commented, “I don send una Rolex picture o. Next time you ask question, don’t create an impression, except if you enjoy tarnishing people to promote your page! Do better!”
