The House of Representatives on Tuesday summoned President Muhammadu Buhari over the recent killing of 43 farmers in Zabarmari community in Borno State.
The lawmakers voted unanimously to have him appear before them following a motion of urgent national importance by Satomi Ahmed.
Efforts by the Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, Majority Leader Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, and chairman, House Committee on Air Force Shehu Koko, among others to have the prayer dropped proved abortive.
Gbajabiamila’s plea that a state of emergency be adopted instead was also rebuffed.
Several persons are still missing from the attack unleashed on Zabarmari, a community in Jere Local Government Area by Boko Haram fighters.
Buhari has condemned the attack and sent a government delegation to Borno.
