Some residents and civil society organisations have lauded Gov. Charles Soludo of Anambra State for a satisfactory job performance since the assumption of office three years ago.
The respondents also acknowledged his significant contributions to the state’s growth, progress and development.
They made the commendations in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Sunday, ahead of the commemoration of the governor’s three years in office on March 17.
The Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Chukwuma Okoye, praised Gov. Soludo for his commitment to realising his vision of transforming Anambra into a livable and prosperous homeland.
Okoye said Soludo’s extensive road projects had improved connectivity, eased traffic congestion and enhanced the overall aesthetics of the capital territory.
According to him, Anambra is progressing at a speed never seen before under Gov. Soludo’s administration.
“Look at the governor’s initiatives and investments in tourism and recreational centers. These projects will boost leisure, hospitality, and business. Awka is rapidly becoming a hub for visitors, investors, and tourists alike.
“The deployment of modern security infrastructure, community-based intelligence, and the crackdown on criminal elements have all made Anambra a safer place to live and do business.
“Gov. Soludo’s leadership in three years has redefined governance and has set new benchmarks for sustainable development,” Okoye said.
Mr Osita Obi, the Convener of the Recover Nigeria Project, said that Soludo had positively impacted the lives of the people through his various developmental projects across the state.
“Just three years in office, Gov. Soludo has performed ‘satisfactorily’, especially in the area of roads and infrastructure. These achievements will leave a lasting legacy.
“My group sponsored a tour across the state and I saw things for myself. I will tell you that so far, he is the best Governor in Anambra.
“I am appealing to residents to re-elect him so that we will not disrupt this process of radical transformation in the state,” Obi said.
A resident, Mr Kenneth Akachukwu, said the governor’s road projects had been attracting investors and realtors to his community in Awka North.
“We thank the governor for developing our community in Awka. Our land has appreciated from N150,000, N200,00 to N800,000 or N1 million, depending on the site.
“People are coming in to invest in real estate and agriculture because the road projects brought out the potential of our community. Even Awba rice is now popular in the markets,” he said.
A farmer, Mrs Ekene Echefu, said the newly constructed roads have improved agricultural productivity and made transportation of farm produce very easy.
“Before now, our road was in a very bad condition; even motorcycles find it difficult to ply the road. As an agrarian area, farmers find it difficult to take their goods to town or market.
“We thank Gov. Soludo for remembering us. In just three years in office, he has brought my community to the limelight.
“Now my community is accessible to all; farmers can easily take rice, garri, palm oil, and other farm produce to the market. Good road is truly life and light,” she said.
