Jose Mourinho might have achieved so much in football and is undoubtedly one of the best managers in the game, but at the moment, the Portuguese is one of the most troubled in Europe.
Mourinho’s conundrum continued after his side lost for the sixth time this season against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The tactician who is well known for his frequent rows, shenanigans and bluntness, has suddenly turned naïve with his tactics, calm in his appearance and unsettled on the sidelines.
Now a shocking revelation by BBC Radio 5 has shown that the relationship between the tactician and his players is at “rock bottom” – so bad that a player was quoted as saying he would rather “lose than win” for the coach.
According to British radio presenter, Gary Richardson, majority of the players at the club are frustrated at how the manager has handled their teammates and his unending outbursts with the media, FA and referees.
“Let me tell you what I know on the Chelsea story. My information comes from a Chelsea first team player,” Sportweek’s Richardson was quoted as saying.
“The information was actually passed to me by a football contact. I was told that Jose Mourinho’s relationship with many of his players is at rock bottom.
“I was told they’re fed up with the way he’s been dealing with some of them. They’re fed up with his outbursts. I was told that his relationship particularly with Eden Hazard was under immense strain.”
He added: “Here’s a staggering quote. One player said recently, ‘I’d rather lose than win for him’. Now that last quote may well have been said in the heat of the moment, but it perhaps gives an insight into the mood of some of the players.”
The revelation came as Daily Mirror reports that the club are set to swing the axe and get rid of the Special One.
The paper adds that the only decision left to make is when Roman Abramovich will do it; with some sources suggesting it it’s likely to be before Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Dynamo Kiev.
Mourinho only signed a new contract in August but it includes a clause that says he will get £9.5millon – 12 months salary – if he is sacked by the club.
