One of the worst-kept secrets in Nollywood is that there is no love lost between Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Genevieve Nnaji.
Easily recognised beyond Nigeria even by their first name only, they are often considered the two biggest actresses Nigeria ever produced.
Genevieve earned a bragging right in 2009 when she appeared on Oprah Winfrey Show where she was referred to as the Julia Roberts of Africa.
Four years later, Omotola was named one of the most influential people in the world in the TIME 100 list.
Not even Chineze Anyaene’s 2010 Ije: The Journey, which casts both women as sisters, has broken the ice.
Genevieve, however, put their rivalry aside on Wednesday to wish Omotola a happy 40th birthday.
“Happy birthday fine girl toh badt! Many happy returns @realomosexy. Stay fierce gorgeous,” the mother of one wrote to the mother of four on Instagram.
The significance of that message was not lost on many followers who praised Genevieve for her maturity.
That message, they said, has further endeared her to them.
