Rivers Angels have been crowned champions of the 2017 women’s Aiteo Cup after beating Ibom Angels on penalties.
Formerly known as the Federation Cup, the Aiteo Cup is Nigeria’s oldest club competition.
Cynthia Aku opened the scoring for Edwin Okon’s team in the 48th minute.
But their joy was short-lived as the Promise Keepers pegged back five minutes later through Glory Ogbonna.
With the game tied at 1-1 after regulation time, it was down to spot-kicks to decide the champions.
It turned out Rivers wanted it more, converting three to finish 3-0 victors at the Rwam Pam Stadium, Jos.

For Akwa, it’s somewhat a disappointing end to a promising campaign, having watched their male counterparts clinched the men’s version last week.
Whereas for Rivers, it signals another dominant season, yet again claiming the double.
What this means is that Edwin Okon’s ladies have now scooped seven of the last 10 domestic cups.
They smile home with N10m for finishing top with Akwa getting half that amount.
