Commissioner of police in Rivers State Tunji Disu has paid a visit to one of the pioneers of women in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Stella Okuyiga.
The 94-year-old retired deputy commissioner of police Okuyiga joined the NPF in 1955.
Disu shared photos of his visit on X on Wednesday.

“I had the honour of visiting 94-year-old DCP Dame Stella Obuoforibo Okuyiga (retd..), one of the pioneering 20 female police officers in Nigeria who joined the force in 1955,” he wrote.
“It was a delight to spend time with this veteran trailblazer.”
Disu, the former principal staff officer to the Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, was awarded the commissioner of police of the year at the maiden edition of the Nigeria Police Awards and Commendation.
The awards ceremony took place at the congress hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja on Monday, April 15.
