Actors Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) and Ego Boyo are back together 21 years after starring in Amaka Igwe’s 1996 movie, Violated.
An excited RMD broke the news in an Instagram post on Monday, revealing that the two will once again be joined in a television comedy drama titled Mr X Family Show.
The 56-year-old recounted how his journey with Ego started nearly 30 years ago on the production of Checkmate, a soap opera directed by Amaka Igwe for the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA).
While RMD was cast as the villain, Segun Kadiri, on the highly coveted TV series, the woman many affectionately calls his television wife played the role of his girlfriend, Ann Hathrope.
Their onscreen chemistry continued in Violated, in which they played Tega and Peggy.
The past 21 years have seen RMD acquire a law degree, get married to former Miss Jumobi Adegbesan, go on sabbatical from acting to serve as commissioner in Delta State and return to Nollywood.
“Since then Ego has gone ahead to becoming wife, mother, accomplished business woman and the president of International Women’s Society,” RMD wrote.
“I can only hope that getting back together again on TV will tickle fans of Ann Hathrope and Segun Kadiri and the fans of Tega and Peggy who have been craving to have them grace their TV screens again. Ego and I are pretty excited about this and hope the excitement catches on,” the actor continued.
He, however, left fans guessing if he and the 49-year-old will be the roles of a married couple, secret lovers, siblings or colleagues.
