Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo has recounted a 1988 encounter with music maestro Sir Victor Uwaifo who died on Saturday at the age of 80.
The actor in an Instagram post on Wednesday, narrated how spent over six hours with the musician, doing a feature on him and his music.
“My favourite song of his is Ekassa 26. People might know the song but not very many know the name of the track.
“As a young reporter in 1988 working in Concord newspapers, I spent over six hours with him in Benin doing a feature on him and his music. He was one of the Legends I had promised to do a documentary on,” he wrote.
RMD went on to express how how he felt when he heard the news of his passing, saying that Victor will be missed.
“My prayers are with his family at this time. Victor uwaifo will be sorely missed no doubt. This dark season has again claimed one of our treasured heroes.
Rest in power guitar boy,” he concluded.
