Juju music legend Ebenezer Obey could not hide his excitement as he stormed Instagram on Tuesday night to celebrate himself ahead of his birthday.
The veteran, who turns 80 on April 3, said the road to his next chapter has already begun.
The 78-year-old shared a lovely photo of himself saying “Road to chapter 80 begins now.”
Celebrities and fans stormed the comment section of the post to wish him a happy birthday in advance.
On his 78th birthday, Obey was celebrated by celebrities and fans all over the world including gospel singer Tope Alabi, actress Joke Muyiwa and Bimbo Osho.
Ebenezer Obey began his professional career in the mid-1950s after moving to Lagos. He was trained by the late Fatai Rolling Dollar.
Chief commander, as he is fondly called, formed a band called The International Brothers in 1964, playing highlife–juju fusion.
With more than five decades of active singing, the Egba-born singer is internationally recognised for evolving a unique juju sound from highlife music.
Some of his popular songs include ‘Olomi Gbo Temi’, ‘The horse, the man, and the Son’ and ‘Iba Foluwa’.
