Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has had his contract extended by default after qualifying the country for the 2018 FIFA World.
Rohr signed a two-year deal with the option of another two years, if Nigeria book a place in Russia, a feat they achieved over the weekend after their 1-0 win over Zambia.
The German would have been fired had the three-time African champions failed to make it to the global showpiece.
Since taking over as substantive coach of the team last year, Rohr has lost only one game – the 0-2 loss to South Africa in Uyo in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Aside the Bafana Bafana setback, the Franco-German has won five and drawn one match.
An official announcement by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is expected to come soon, with Rohr’s current deal set to expire after the 2018 World Cup.
