Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has ranked his team’s next World Cup qualifying opponents, Zambia, above Cameroon.
Five-time Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winners, Cameroon, are out of the running for the sole ticket in Group B after garnering just three points from four games.
Perhaps, the Franco-German’s assertion could be due to his team’s resounding win over the Indomitable Lions in August – coupled with Zambia’s revival.
Nigeria thrashed Hugo Broos’ team 4-0 in Uyo before being forced to a 1-1 draw away three days later, while the Chipolopolo scooped an even more impressive win against Algeria.
Now with the Eagles set for an epic duel with the South Africans on Saturday, Rohr has nothing but praises for his guests.
“The Zambia game will be difficult,” the ex-Bayern Munich man told the media after his side’s first training session on Tuesday evening.
“They have a better team than Cameroon perhaps. So we must be ready to give a good fight.
“They (Zambia) are very young and dangerous. They don’t have anything to lose; they will come here with the mind to win this game.
“We’ve seen in the game against South Africa but I have a team with experience and youth to conquer and I think we are ready for this big game.”
Nigeria have picked up 10 points – three more than the Zambians and another victory over the Chipolopolo will cement their place in Russia.
