Cristiano Ronaldo has criticised Jose Mourinho’s tactics after Juventus 2-1 defeat at home to Manchester United in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Ronaldo had put Juventus ahead with a stunning volley before two goals in the final five minutes led Manchester United to a famous victory.
Juan Mata drew the visitors level with a wonderful free-kick before Alex Sandro’s own goal gave the Red Devils all three points.
In truth, Juventus could have had the game wrapped up before then with Sami Khedira and Paulo Dybala hitting the woodwork.
And Cristiano Ronaldo slammed Jose Mourinho’s tactics though admitted Juventus should have killed the game off.
The Champions League is a special competition, where you could be winning, but can’t relax, as anything can happen,” Ronaldo told Sky Sports Italia.
“We dominated the game for 90 minutes, had so many chances, could’ve killed it off three or four times, but we relaxed and were punished.
“Manchester United did nothing to win the game. You can’t even talk about luck, because you have to find your own luck and in this case, we just gifted it to them.
“Now we’ve got to lift our heads, as we played really well and are still top of the group.
“I was happy with the goal, but of course I’m a little bit disappointed because we should win the game with three or four goals.
“Manchester didn’t do much, they had two chances on set pieces. I know English teams are always looking for set pieces.
“We will learn from our mistakes and we are still top of the group, so it’s all good.”
Mourinho himself believes United were worthy of their win.
“The game was a very good game. It was top,” he said.
“We performed at a high level. We had about five minutes after that goal to wake up again but the team was there until the last.
“I know millions are happy with the win. But I respect Juventus and the quality they have.
“I am really proud of my boys because they did everything.”
