Real Madrid superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, broke another goalscoring record in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
The three-time world footballer of the year struck four times in 19 minutes to smash his own record for group stage goals as Real walloped Malmo 8-0 at the Bernabeu.
Ronaldo surpassed his previous record of nine goals with a quadruple as Rafael Benitez side cemented their place as Group A winners.
He scored his first goal from an angled free kick in the 39th minute to make it 3-0, firing a shot that bounced just in front of the goalkeeper before reaching the far corner.
The Portuguese increased his team’s lead by picking up a loose ball in front of the goal in the 47th and added another with a low cross shot from inside the area in the 50th. His fourth goal came after a cross by Francisco “Isco” Alarcon in the 59th.
Karim Benzema opened the scoring from close range in the 12th off the rebound of a shot by Isco that was partially cleared off the goal line by Malmo. Ronaldo initiated the play with a cross from the left side.
The Frenchman added his second in the 24th with a header into the top corner after another well-placed cross by Ronaldo, and the third goal by the Frenchman came after a breakaway in the 74th.
Mateo Kovacic scored Madrid’s seventh goal with a shot from near the penalty spot in the 70th.
