Nollywood actress Ronke Ojo, popularly known as Ronke Oshodi Oke, clocked 46 on Friday, July 17.
Expectedly, she took the celebration to Instagram with a message of gratitude to her maker.
“Our life is a gift from the Creator.
“Thank you Lord for another great chance to make a difference.
“Happy birthday to me,” she wrote.
An indigene of Ondo State, Ronke was born in Oworonshoki, Lagos State, where she completed her primary and secondary education.
She began her acting career with a drama group called Star Parade but became a household name in 2000 when she featured in the movie titled Oshodi Oke, from which she got her nickname.
In 2018, Ronke advised fellow actors to stop showing off their wealth on social media.
“Before you show off, first look at the condition of your home. Have you ever seen a banker flaunting his or her car on social media?
“You bought a car, you put it on social media. Even those that are not up to 40 years are now lying on social media that they are 40. You bought a house, you put it on social media. Why?” she said.
Her advice didn’t sit well with Lizzy Anjorin who said Ronke spoke out of pure hate and tagged her a beggar.
“I don’t put my mouth in things that don’t concern me. But how would you feel if I said some people, after finishing their unfortunate MC job, move from one party to the other to beg for money? How would you feel? Because a beggar and someone that flaunts are both foolish. In fact, someone that flaunts is even better because the person who is just using it to thank God,” Lizzy said in a damning video message.
Responding, Ronke said masters of ceremonies are allowed to solicit for money at events.
The Succubus actress recently deleted her old Instagram posts as part of a rebranding process.
“I am going through a rebranding process and therefore, I plan on sustaining my name.
“I want people to see this new and improved version of Ronke Oshodi Oke, mother, actor, compere and singer. I have made a lot of plans to rebrand my image and I can’t wait to share all my plans with my fans,” she said in an interview with Vanguard.
Married to Gbolahan Anthony since 2009, the plus-size actress is the mother of three kids.
