Actor Rotimi Salami has responded to allegations from production manager and actress Ogundare Fatima, who accused him of leaving her movie set without completing his shoot.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, Salami shared his side of the story, revealing that his senior colleague, Lekan Olatunji, had invited him for a two-day movie shoot.
However, the schedule was changed four times for reasons unknown to him.
On the final agreed date, the actor requested mobilisation and was paid N100,000. He said he accepted the amount without complaints out of respect for Lekan.
Salami explained that he arrived on set in Abeokuta around 2:30 pm after fixing his broken-down car.
According to him, his role had a set time and he was never meant to stay overnight for a second-day shoot. However, delays from the production team affected his schedule and he had to leave for an important appointment in Lagos.
The 44-year-old actor said he was surprised when the production manager put out a different narrative, accusing him of abandoning the project.
In his Instagram post, he wrote, “I am doing this because I need to protect my image on social media, especially for those who truly care and have reached out to me… Defaming me with such a post and posting my business mobile number for people to call and bash me does have a fine.”
On his part, Lekan Olatunji explained that Fatima had initially booked Salami for the role, but production delays forced multiple reschedules. Despite efforts to adjust, Salami kept citing other commitments, including work at a cinema.
When Fatima requested a refund, Salami explained that he could not return the money immediately due to financial constraints.
Out of understanding, the producer rescheduled again, but Salami eventually backed out due to another engagement, forcing Fatima to cast a replacement.
Another team member also clarified that they had previously worked with Salami on another project that didn’t materialize due to unforeseen circumstances, leading to a similar issue.
Although Salami eventually showed up for Fatima’s shoot, he did not complete the agreed two-day schedule.
