Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall on Tuesday arrived in Nigeria on the last leg of their West African tour.
The royal couple touched down in Abuja on a private jet and were greeted by a Guard of Honour on the red carpet.
Along the dignitaries receiving them were the British High Commissioner, Paul Arkwright, and the Nigerian Foreign Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama.
Following a rendition of the National Anthems, the prince, wearing a beige linen suit and sunglasses, inspected the Guard of Honour before departing for The Presidential Villa where they met President Muhammadu Buhari.
Buhari, who welcomed the Prince at the Fore Court of the presidential villa, introduced some members of his cabinet and presidential aides to the prince.
The President later went into a closed-door meeting with Prince Charles.
Prince Charles, 69, who is on a three-day visit, had visited Nigeria in 2006.
During this visit, he would engage in peace-building activities, including addressing the persistent attacks of herdsmen on farming communities in Nigeria.
He is also expected to discuss practical solutions to alleviating the tensions, arising from the activities of herdsmen.
A proposed visit to Jos, Plateau State has been cancelled after security measures introduced following deadly regional clashes disrupted plans for the trip.
The British Foreign Office said the cancellation was not security related, as the recent clashes would not have prevented the visit, but rather it was the security measures, introduced after the violence, which have affected operational arrangements for the trip.
