Ogun State Government on Wednesday said a company in Sagamu area of the state recorded 104 out of the 108 coronavirus (COVID-19) cases announced on Tuesday.
The 108 new cases on Tuesday brought the state’s tally to 471.
Commissioner for Health, Tomi Coker, said: “104 cases are from a single site and they are all asymptomatic. 108 new cases, 104 from Sagamu, three from Abeokuta South and one from Yewa South.”
She also said the state had recorded 13 COVID-19 deaths.
The commissioner said there was no going back on the state’s plan to reopen religious centres despite the alarming 108 COVID-19 cases recorded in the state within 24 hours.
She added that the latest figure, which was the highest the state had recorded since the index case, was not a reflection of community spread of the virus.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Communications, Remmy Hazzan, said the state government subjected the staff of some companies along Sagamu-interchange to “total COVID-19 test” when it learnt they were not observing protocols for the virus.
Ogun recorded four new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing the state’s tally to 475.
