Fuji musician Saheed Osupa has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Fuji legend Ayinde Barrister during a performance.
Saheed shared this moment with fans on his Instagram page.
Praising Barrister whom he fondly called “Agbajelola,” Saheed spoke in Yoruba, acknowledging the legend’s lasting impact on Fuji music.
“When it comes to good music, Agbajelola left Fuji behind,” he said, praying for God’s mercy and a place in paradise for Barrister. He added that Ayinde Barrister remains alive “lyrically,” even years after his 2010 passing.
The tribute drew admiration from fans, who flooded the comment section with praises for Saheed’s show of respect.
This recent gesture comes after Saheed shared a post urging younger Fuji musicians to respect their elders.
He emphasised that Fuji is not just a genre but a celebration of culture, unity, and tradition with a strong emphasis on respecting the pioneers who paved the way.
“By showing respect to those who have come before us, we honour their legacy,” he wrote.
Saheed’s statements come amid ongoing tensions in the Fuji industry, particularly the dispute between Wasiu Pasuma and Taye Currency.
The Fuji artiste has openly voiced his support for Pasuma, whom he recently praised alongside Abass Obesere and Barrister as unique figures in Fuji.
He contrasted them with other musicians “influenced by Barrister’s style,” including K1 De Ultimate.
Earlier, Saheed criticised Taye Currency—formerly Taye Paso—for disrespecting Pasuma, who according to Saheed, played a crucial role in Taye’s rise.
He likened Taye’s actions to those of a “mad man” for failing to acknowledge Pasuma’s influence in his career.
