Actors Saidi Balogun and Uche Ogbodo have shown support for their embattled colleague, Halima Abubakar, after she made a public appeal for help amid her ongoing health struggles.
On Tuesday, QEDNG reported that Halima reached out to Nigerians, revealing that she was still battling an illness and was using filters to conceal her true appearance.
She posted a distressing video on Instagram, expressing her pain and faith in divine justice.
“You know best. My tears and pain won’t go in vain. Amen,” she wrote.
The video opened with the statement: “Two things I know for sure: Prayers work, and tables eventually turn.”
In a follow-up post, the 39-year-old actress admitted she was struggling and exhausted from seeking help. She shared her account details, pleading for financial support.
“Help me. I’m tired of begging,” she wrote.
Speaking in the video, Halima clarified that her online photos do not reflect her reality. “I’m not feeling fine up till now. I’m just good at being strong and pretending that I am okay. This is me, but every day you see me post pictures with filters.
“That is a filter from TikTok, but this is how I look. I didn’t want to post pictures looking like this. And some of you would be laughing—what is funny?”
She became emotional as she addressed skepticism about her condition.
“Okay, you sacked me from Nollywood, which is fine, but what is all this betrayal? They said I was never sick, that I was lying.
“My own best friend said I was acting. How can someone act sick? Do I look like someone pretending? You are wicked and evil. God will punish you for saying I am lying.”
Halima disclosed that she had been seeking medical treatment at a prominent Turkish hospital in Nigeria and had been pleading with people to assist her with medical expenses.
She ended the video with a Quranic recitation, calling on Nigerians for support.
In response, actor Saidi Balogun prayed for her healing, assuring her that she would overcome the situation. “You will surely overcome. Almighty Allah will heal you completely,” he wrote.
Actress Uche Ogbodo also encouraged her, writing, “God got you, Hali.”
Actor Mustapha Sholagbade added, “You are blessed Halima and you shall overcome this, Insha Allah.”
Fans also flooded her comment section with prayers for her recovery.
In 2024, Halima Abubakar was suspended by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) for defamation against colleagues and high-profile Nigerians.
She was accused of making slanderous claims and engaging in extramarital affairs with a prominent individual.
Following her suspension, she issued an apology to Apostle Johnson Suleman, admitting that her allegations against him were false and had caused harm to his family and ministry.
She expressed deep regret and hoped her apology would help repair the damage.
The controversy between Halima and Apostle Suleman first surfaced in 2022 when she accused him of having an affair with her, alleging that the relationship led to serious health complications.
