The police prosecutor, Insp. Caleb Leranmo, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offence between Jan. and Oct. 2019, in Ado-Ekiti.

He alleged that the defendant, who is a sales attendant at Total filling station in Adebayo area of Ado-Ekiti, fraudulently obtained the sum of N1 million from the sales of fuel.

Leranmo said that the offence contravened Section 1 (3) of the Advanced Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, 2006.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the plea of the defendant was not taken.

The defence counsel, Mr Olayemi Olatunde, however, applied for his bail, saying that the complainant, Adeniran Ademola, who is the station’s manager, had retained the defendant so as to deduct the money monthly from his salary.
