Senior pastor of Daystar Christian Centre Sam Adeyemi has lamented the state of Government Science College, Kagara, Niger State where gunmen attacked on Wednesday.
Pictures of the dilapidated school have gone viral on social media.
In a tweet on Thursday, Adeyemi said the pictures brought tears to his eyes. He also called for more attention to education.
“Pictures of the Government Science College Kagara where students were kidnapped brought tears to my eyes. Many schools are like that in Nigeria. Only a people collectively wicked would treat youths this way. We must treat humans, created in God’s image, with empathy and dignity,” he said.
Adeyemi had revealed on Wednesday via Twitter that he grew up in Niger and was saddened by the news of the abductions in the state and other parts of the country.
“I grew up in Niger State and it’s saddening to hear of the kidnappings there and in other parts of Nigeria. We pray for wisdom and victory for our security services. We must remove everything that prevents citizens and governments at all levels from creating wealth legitimately,” he said.
