Ozioma, the widow of singer Sammie Okposo, could not hold back tears as the senior pastor of House on the Rock Church Paul Adefarasin prayed for her during the service of songs for the late singer.
The church held a service of songs on Wednesday, December 14 in memory of Sammie who died on Friday, November 25 at the age of 51.
Sammie used to be the choir director at House on the Rock Church in Lagos.
During the service, Adefarasin bid the gospel singer goodbye, noting that he fought and lived well while he was alive.
“Adieu to a great warrior. Sammie, you have run well, you fought a good fight. Rest in Peace in Jesus our Lord. You did fight a good fight. Enjoy eternity,” he said.
He also prayed and committed Ozioma to the hands of God, saying “As it pertains to your wife Ozy, she is in good keep, she is in the hand of the almighty God, it will be well with her from now till her dawn, until when the trumpet does sound to call us home.”
This act got the widow emotional as she could not hold back her tears while being comforted by people.
Adefarasin had earlier paid tributes to Sammie in a post on social media.
He wrote, “To a greatly gifted man, words fail me…Sleep on in the Lord till we meet to part no more.
“Your memory is forever blessed; may The Almighty keep all who love you dearly and share in our great loss in the cover of His mighty wings. We will miss you on this side. Rest in peace great warrior.”
Sammie Okposo will be buried at a private ceremony on Friday, December 16.
