Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has denied lifting the lockdown imposed on Lagos State because of the Easter celebration.
The governor’s spokesman, Gboyega Akosile, made the denial on Thursday afternoon.
According to Mr Akosile, “the Information going round on some media platforms” that the lockdown will be lifted “is false and should be disregarded totally.”
Also speaking at a ministerial briefing Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said “Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has not relaxed any lockdown.”
Explaining that the restriction on movement is the best way to curb the spread of the coronavirus, Mr Omotoso advised Lagosians not to waste the sacrifice they have made so far because of the enjoyment of a few days.
He added that the decision to extend or relax the lockdown will be taken by President Muhammadu Buhari.
