Lagos state chapter of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it would on March 27 present certificates of return to the state’s governor-elect, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.
Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Sam Olumekun, in a statement on Thursday said that lawmakers-elect of the state’s House of Assembly would also receive their certificates of return the same day.
All invited guests, according to him, should be seated by 10:30am for the governorship and 1:30pm for the lawmakers.
“The presentation of certificate of return to elected candidates is in conformity with Section 75 (1) of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended).
“The presentation ceremony will take place at INEC Lagos Office, 6, Birrel Avenue, Sabo-Yaba, at 11:00 am for the Governor-elect and his Deputy.
“Meanwhile, that of the elected members of Lagos State House of Assembly will come up at 2:00 pm,” Mr Olumekun said.
The commission will on Saturday hold a supplementary election in Ibeju-Lekki state constituency I where the state assembly election was declared inconclusive.
APC candidates won in the other 39 constituencies where state assembly elections were successfully concluded.
