Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Friday penned an open letter to the late former governor of the state Lateef Jakande.
Fondly called Baba Kekere, Jakande died on February 11 at the age of 91.
Mr Sanwo-Olu said in a letter posted to social media that Jakande’s death was saddening, yet a celebration of life.
“Dear Baba Jakande,” he began. “It’s exactly one year today, that you went to be with the Lord. Your transition to the great beyond though a painful exit, but a celebration of all that you achieved, and the great impact you made on everyone who was fortunate to encounter you during your sojourn on earth.”
The governor promised to continue to follow in his legacy.
“We will continue to toe the path your legacy has paved for us, and we will not cease to emulate your life of dedication and service, as we continue work towards giving our people good governance. Continue to Rest In Peace, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande,” he added.
Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat was at the one-year remembrance ceremony organised by the Jakande family.
