Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Saturday ran over 6km at the 5th Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.
His chief press secretary, Gboyega Akosile, confirmed it in a tweet, saying: “Fit for Lagos. Governor @jidesanwoolu completed over 6km run as he led the 2020 Lagos marathon #RunLagos this morning. #ForAGreaterLagos.”
The 42km race commenced from National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, while the 10km race began from Ikoyi Link Bridge. Both races climaxed at Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Yusuf Buratai, fired the starter pistol of the race.
Buratai was accompanied by top military officials, Mr Sanwo-Olu and the state Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Segun Dawodu.
Others were the Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), Sola Ayepeku; Director-General, LSSC, Oluwatoyin Gafar; and wife of the former LSSC Chairman, Yemisi Tinubu, among others.
