Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will on Friday unveil the 2021 edition of Greater Lagos Fiesta, a 30-day celebration to round off the year and usher in 2022.
Tagged “Lagos Rock”, the programme will be unveiled at Eko Hotel in the presence of key entertainment, tourism and media partners.
Commissioner for tourism, arts and culture Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf describes it as a “30-day immersive experience of entertainment, awe and inspiration, the likes of which has never been seen before in Nigeria.”
A seven-person committee was inaugurated in March to organise the festival.
The committee was charged with coming up with plans to make the event self-sustaining, enhance the programme as a marketing tool to sell Lagos to the outside world and incorporate local government communities and the larger stakeholders in the tourism industry.
The last edition of the Greater Lagos Fiesta was held in 2019.
COVID-19 and the EndSARS protest made hosting it in 2020 impossible.
